Notice of Project Completion

On behalf of the entire Collingwood Smart Stormwater Project team, I would like to thank all participants and stakeholders who were involved in this landmark initiative. Together, we have come a long way from our first open house in November, 2017.
Our team is grateful for having the opportunity to deliver solutions to better manage stormwater flows, as well as helping homeowners better prepare their properties for extreme weather events. The ‘smart’ water technologies and low impact development practices used were (and continue to be) innovative alternatives to conventional stormwater solutions at the property level. Now that the project has finished, and the data has been analyzed, we are proud to announce that a reduction in stormwater runoff was between 69-100% for all sites analyzed. This verifies the effectiveness and validates the approach used by the project team.
Going forward, we will promote the project findings in order to assist other municipalities in Canada facing similar flooding issues. The Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) will be key in publishing the report.
Once again, thank-you to all who were involved over the last 3 years. The new insights garnered from our study would not be possible without all the help and engagement from the project participants.
